Thanks to FOX 24 Charleston's News Now and Leyla Gulen for continuing to report on Jax's work with the MAHA Commission to Make America Healthy Again for 3.3 million Americans with Celiac Disease, including 729,000 kids like him.
News Now is Charleston, South Carolina's premier daily news and lifestyle television show!
July 10, 2026
"Chronic disease is surging across America: it’s time to eat real food, get active, live real life & take back our health! That's why I support MAHA! That’s why I support the new Dietary Guidelines, the Surgeon General's Warning on the Harms of Screen Use, and Secretary Kennedy's radical transparency of food ingredients." -- Jax Bari
There are about 56,000 South Carolinians with Celiac Disease and Jax is fighting to improve their lives with the mandatory labeling of Barley, Rye and Oats as Major Food Allergens. For some perspective, Barley, Rye and Oats are required to be labeled in 87 other countries, including in Canada, in Mexico, in the United Kingdom and across the European Union.

On July 11, 2026, we were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham who Jax had just met with on June 16, 2026 to discuss MAHA iniatitives. The American people have lost a courageous leader, South Carolina has lost a fearless fighter and bridge builder, and the Celiac community has lost an ally. We hope to continue the dialogue with his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, as she finishes out the Senator Graham's term.

"We're learning how one family is working with South Carolina lawmakers to name gluten as the 10th major food allergen. We check in with Jon Bari, President of Celiac Journey, Leslie Bari, Founder of Gluten Free Finds and their nine-year-old son Jax, to talk about their mission to name gluten on all packaged food products." -- Leyla Gulen
